 Loot Farm Guide - Dark Zone 5 & 6 - (Updated for 1.5)

 Why This Route?

We believe this method is still one of the best ways to gain 256 gear / weapons in the game. Our clan consists of experienced 256 GS min/maxed players with a strong depth of in game knowledge. In addition, we have spent many hours running through Underground, HVTs, HC incursions, missions and the like in the quest to find the most efficient method of farming upgrades. With multiple guaranteed 256 loot drops in a 10-15 minute time frame, the possibility of gold / green caches, & 256 supply drops.. we believe this DZ 5/6 route will yield an enormous amount of loot in a relatively short time.

This detailed route map (found below) includes key tips and easy to follow markers to help you maximize your efficiency. I will let the map mostly speak for itself, while also providing some important pointers to help you better manage the flow. If in control of all spawns, you will be able to jump from one location to another with little down time. Even if competing with another group, your awareness of the route and spawns will quickly help you push out other groups. The boss timers will also help you know exactly when to expect the next group of elites to spawn. We  have worked very hard perfecting this route and we feel it will greatly benefit those looking to min / max their weapons and gear.

 Example Group Build

  • 1x Skill Build: AR - 4x Tactician & 2x Final - Tanky (50%ish Exotic) / Lower DPS - 500K+ tough - Supply Tank - Support Station / Overdose
  • 1x Alt DPS Build: LMG - 3x Banshee & 3x Lone Star - In Cover / Good DPS / Suppressor - 400K+ tough - Immunizer / Booster Shot
  • 2x Pure DPS Builds: AR - 4x AlphraBridge & Specialized / Barret or Savage - Big DPS / 400K+ tough - Flash / Shock / Concealed / Booster
 Suggestions & Tips

  • The route starts at the NE DZ6 checkpoint (Green Line) and runs clockwise, ending after optional DZ 6 extract
  • A key to commanding this route is using the boss spawn timers above. Know the times, beat the competition
  • Since 1.3, opening Dark Zone chests now gives max level gold loot. Make sure to open these religiously
  • If farming loot only, make careful note of the paths and where to hug the sides to minimize aggro
  • Call out your dropped heals and try to stay near the support stations so you can take advantage of the auto revive
  • Depending on spawn location, your top priority is tagging (shooting) the boss to guarantee loot if other teams jump in
  • The Pit tunnel has a quicker route to Sub A if you are competing with another team for spawns and want to get ahead
  • Don't be afraid to leave boss loot on the ground if you are full. You will get it on the next pass
  • If you are concerned about rogues, stick exclusively to the DZ 6 or DZ 5 West extract for greater egress flexibility
  • If a competing group is near and your teammate happens to die, immediately pick up his loot to trade it back later
  • Decide right off if your team will be engaging rogues or going rogue. Be OK with dying and going off course
  • When hunting supply drops, use the tankiest build to sig rush the crate, opening it while DPS lay down CC and cover fire
  • Never be afraid to use your signature links, especially when battling at Fatties. 3-4 flamers can lay out a whole team
  • As of 1.4/5, rely less on modding for crit hit chance. Load out for raw DMG boost. Also try to get your armor at 50%+
This route also works for any world tier. However sub tier 5 should of course substitute item level references based on their selected tier level

Updated for 1.3 - Underground DLC
On the south end of your run where you say hug the north side of W49th st I found that you can come out of the DZ05 subway at the stairs on W47th, catch the DT thats inside that building and hug the north side of 47th to get past the LMB. Its much safer to go up the shipping container side of the DZ05 West Extraction and if you go around thru the contaminated zone you can sneak past the pacing cleaners that are in the supply drop courtyard.

Good stuff mate. Will try diverting that part of the loop to see if it adds time. Right now the movement down 49th facing the cleaners poses no problems unless 2 flamers are standing on the north side of the street which is 1 out of 3 times or so. We just run through them all and they never follow to the Fatties boss encounter. However we do have to engage the vet cleaners on that roaming N/S route if they pass through or they add to the Fattie mobs. I appreciate your thoughts above. Ever improving..

@Dr Luigi Phd thanks for the tip on the alternate route. I have added it to the map and updated the downloadable link.

Everyone else: I also changed the supply drop running route in the west to be more accurate. Please help point out any flaws in any locations. Thanks.

Updated for 1.5. Could use any vetting from the player base to make sure the tips and such are accurate. I'm recently back to the game from a break so some may have more wisdom about the DZ changes over the last 2 patches.
