How does the character boost work? ANSWER: The character boost allows you to speed up the progression of any new or existing character you have, straight to level 30. Boosting your character will complete all campaign and World Tier Invasion missions, maximise your Gear Score and automatically unlock all progress achievements up to level 30. You can buy a character boost from the in-game Store. Once purchased, the Character Boost tile will be greyed out until the boost has been used. To boost your character: • Complete the tutorial. • Unlock your first skill. • Open the Main Menu. • Select the Character Boost Available tile, then Boost. Characters that have already reached the maximum Gear Score of World Tier 5 cannot be boosted.

This week’s State of the Game focused on Episode 3 – a free content update coming to The Division 2 in February. Episode 3 will bring two new main missions and a new specialization equipped with a flamethrower signature weapon. On top of the free content, Year 1 Pass owners will also gain access to two new classified assignments located in Coney Island and instant unlock of the new Firewall specialization. As with all narrative content, Year 1 Pass owners will have 7 days early access to the missions. Episode 3 will bring you to Coney Island, NYC to rescue a scientist held in captivity by the Black Tusk, as The Division believes that this man is key to finding a cure for the Green Poison. The Cleaner faction will make their first appearance in The Division 2 with Episode 3. Veterans of The Division will be very familiar with this faction, not least due to their ruthless nature and iconic flamethrowers. The Firewall specialization will bring the most recent signature weapon in the SHD arsenal - the K8-JetStream flamethrower. Firewall is a specialization for the close quarter specialist that likes to get up close and personal with their enemies. For additional details on the specialization itself, see our dedicated article and live gameplay is available to watch on our State of the Game VoD. The Chameleon exotic assault rifle will also become available in Episode 3, and we are keen to see what new builds it will spark. Assault Rifle Talent: Adaptive Instincts Hitting 30 headshots grants +20% critical hit chance and +50% critical hit damage for 45s. Hitting 60 body shots grants +100% weapon damage for 45s. Hitting 30 leg shots grants +150% reload speed for 45s. Talent: Overlap While holstered, gain +5% weapon handling Changes color based on the environment. We are all very excited for you to get hands on with Episode 3 and we hope to see you in Coney Island!
Development Update: We are currently hard at work on a general overhaul of the game’s RPG mechanics to be released when ready after Episode 3. Following up on last week’s talk about Gear 2.0 – this week we’re deep diving into changes coming to Recalibration and Skill Power. Recalibration is getting an overhaul and allows for a more intuitive and deeper level of customization. You will be able to extract talents, stats, attributes, core stats, mod slots and desired rolls (including god rolls), and save it in the Recalibration Library to use again and again across gear you want to customize. It is worth bearing in mind you can still only recalibrate once pr. piece and as before the source material will be destroyed in the extraction process. Skill Power is changing and will be replaced with Skill Tiers. This means that your skills can be improved and scale directly with the skill tiers (max 6) and no longer be directly affected by skill mods. In your Skill menu you will be able to see the current skill level, and the attributes that come with your current Skill Tier. Each skill will have a different setup for what attributes and stats are affected. With Skill Tiers we are also introducing the Overcharge. This is an effect that temporarily super charges your skill. If you are at max skill tier, a talent that grants plus one skill power will instead grant overcharge. There are also talents on gear sets that might grant overcharged regardless of the skill tier you are currently at. You can overcharge yourself and/or group. For additional details on both Recalibration and Skill Power, check out the Twitch VoD. As a reminder, these changes are not a part of Episode 3 and will be released when ready, following the release of Episode 3.
DEVELOPMENT UPDATE Yesterday's State of the Game introduced sweeping changing to gear coming in an update following Episode 3. We wanted to rework the systems related to gear to something that is easier to understand, more rewarding for the player and further emphasize the satisfying progression of finding a key piece for your build. The so called "budget system" will be a thing of the past and "god rolls" are coming to The Division 2. Combined with the upcoming UI changes we first showcased back in December, gear drops will now be more intuitive, and you will be able to tell at a glance if your new gear item is an upgrade to your existing kit. All brand sets have been looked at with the intention of making them more aligned with various playstyles, increase the amount of fun synergies between them and lower popularity brand have been revitalized. Talents have also seen an extensive overhaul with the removal of activation requirements and made more impactful to your build. Further changes to the core attributes are also present, where they are now fixed per brand and can be recalibrated. We can't wait for you to get your hands on these changes when they are ready, and we hope that you tune in as we reveal more of what our plans are. For all the juicy details, check out the Twitch VoD.
