Xbox Series X Exclusive Details: Say Hello To Microsoft's Next-Gen Console from GameSpot.com

Next-gen consoles are almost here, and we just got our first look at the future of Xbox.

By Peter Brown on December 13, 2019 at 2:01PM PST

While preparing for my meeting with Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, to check out the design of Project Scarlett, claims of the next-gen console having four times the CPU power relative to Xbox One X floated in my head, orbited by specs like 8K and 120Hz. Could a system with those capabilities fit in an Xbox One X-sized console, or would Microsoft need to break convention and do something unpredictably big? And what would the price and name be? Spencer was joined by Partner Director of Program Management for Team Xbox, Jason Ronald, and together, they lifted the curtain on the console and laid out their plans a few days prior to the big reveal at The Game Awards.

Now I (and you) know: the next-gen Xbox previously known as Project Scarlett is officially called Xbox Series X, and it is, in no uncertain terms, a monolith. "We wanted to design a console where the form was driven by the function," said Spencer. "And the function--as I said--was to really play the highest power, most immersive games possible." Series X is a very different-looking console than what we're used to, and for my tastes, it's a beautiful-looking machine that commands attention. Looks aren't everything, but when they're this bold and refined, they're certainly hard to ignore.

It looks like the next generation of Xbox consoles is going to be series X Towers I guess. Which might be more powerful than any other console on the market right now in year of 2020.

How Much More Powerful is the Xbox Series X from GameRant.com

by Jared Carvalho – on Dec 13, 2019 in Gaming News

One of the biggest announcements made at The Game Awards on Thursday was Microsoft's reveal of the brand new Xbox Series X. While not everyone loved the design of the new Xbox console, viewers were still interested in exactly what the next generation could be bringing to gaming.

Based on the presentation, it appears that the Xbox Series X will be a marked improvement from both the Xbox One as well as the Xbox One X. Microsoft didn't take the time to show exactly how much more powerful the new console is than its predecessor, but fortunately some astute gaming analysts have compiled the system's specs

Xbox Boss Suggests Xbox Series X Will Be More Powerful Than PS5 from GameRant.com

by Rory Young – on Dec 15, 2019 in Gaming News.

image.png

In terms of power, PlayStation took control of the past console generation with the PlayStation 4 outperforming the launch Xbox One significantly, offering a crisp 1080p experience while the Xbox One often struggled to reach that benchmark. The contest has yet to be settled between the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer believes Xbox will have the advantage.

The Xbox One X put Xbox back on top in terms of power, the first step forward for Xbox under Spencer's leadership. Spencer delivered a full 4K-capable Xbox One X while the PS4 Pro struggled with 4K similarly to how the original Xbox One struggled with 1080p. The move didn't put Xbox back on top in terms of sales or critical success, as the platform continued to lag behind PlayStation in terms of high quality exclusive first-party games. It did, however, position Xbox to compete on more even footing going forward. That's where Xbox currently stands looking at the next generation, and Spencer plans to capitalize.

What We Know About PS5 And Xbox Series X Specs from GameRant.com & YouTube.

by Nimer Abderrahman – on Dec 16, 2019 in GR Originals

A new generation of gaming consoles made by industry veterans Sony and Microsoft is scheduled to launch in about a year. The PS5 and Xbox Series X will go head-to-head holiday 2020 and, just as there was debate surrounding the power of the technology behind the PS4 and Xbox One leading up to holiday 2013, many are wondering which console will take the lead next generation.
Again, just like the PS4 and Xbox One, the PS5 and Xbox Series X are reported to be similar for the most part, though Phil Spencer has claimed in the past that the Series X will outperform the PS5 to some capacity. Both consoles will be utilizing an AMD Zen 2 CPU processor and AMD Navi-based Graphics. Another popular phrase that has been floating around these consoles is a rendering technique called ray tracing, which is supported in both the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Xbox Series X Will Launch With Thousands of Games Thanks to Backward Compatibility from GameRant.com

by Jasmine Henry – on Dec 17, 2019 in Gaming News

Xbox-Series-X-launch-titles-backward-compatible.jpg

Microsoft confirms that the Xbox Series X will launch with thousands of games. The company shared more about the Xbox Series X at The Game Awards 2019, officially confirming the name of the console and letting fans see what it would look like. Speaking to GameSpot, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that the Xbox Series X team "wanted to make sure we had that, day one, we could deliver on the compatibility promise." The Xbox One can play thousands of games, said Jason Ronald, the Xbox partner director of program management, and these will also be available on the Xbox Series X. Xbox Series X players won't just be able to enjoy backward compatible games from the Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Ronald said that the team wants a player's "gaming legacy" to go with them and that means that Achievements, Gamerscore, friends list, and game saves will also be available on the Xbox Series X. There are "no barriers for you as you think about moving forward," said Ronald. Microsoft is putting a huge amount of money into making sure that gamers have a large number of games to enjoy. The company also keeps adding games to its Xbox Game Pass service and it will likely keep that going with the Xbox Series X. PS4 and Xbox One players may have had a small pool of games to choose from at launch but few will be able to say that about the Xbox Series X. Sony will also be offering backward compatibility with the PS5, meaning that the feature could potentially be one of the biggest reasons why players buy one console over another.

The Xbox Series X Has A Major Problem from GameRant.com.

by Nimer Abderrahman – on Dec 18, 2019 in GR Originals

xbox-series-x-problem-issue.jpg

Though the Xbox Series X was surprisingly revealed at The Game Awards 2019, there were no details given on the dimensions of the console itself. A lot of fan mock-ups, renders, and impressions have guessed the potential height and width of the console, but until Microsoft releases official numbers, measurements will have to be eye-balled. The most evident aspect of the new console, though, is in its roof-based ventilation system.

The primary issue with the new Xbox Series X is that it does not take a lot of eye-balling to understand that this box is not going to fit in certain entertainment stands and set-ups without some strange choices. The Xbox Series X was designed to avoid airflow problems as the fans are positioned to ventilate out of the top of the console.

Xbox Boss Reveals How Loud the Xbox Series X Is Running from GameRant.com.

by Rory Young – on Dec 19, 2019 in Gaming News

A ton of new information about Microsoft's next-gen console, the Xbox Series X, has been shared since the console's reveal during The Game Awards 2019. Fans and detractors alike are curious about what Xbox is planning for its large rectangular cuboid console. The Xbox Series X's shape has a very specific purpose, of course. And it's not just to hold the console's impressive hardware. It's also to keep the console cool and quiet. Xbox boss Phil Spencer is even willing to go on record describing how quite the Xbox Series X will be.

In an interview with GameSpot, Spencer described just how quiet the Xbox Series X console will be. According to Spencer, the Xbox Series X matches "how quiet the Xbox One X" is. For those unfamiliar, the Xbox One X utilizes a single-fan structure to create a low-temperature state within the console. This is amazing both for heat management and noise management. While noise levels as idling are low, comparable to general noise levels in a room, even at high performance loads it maintains a noise level between a whisper and a refrigerator.

Randy Pitchford Attacks the Xbox Series X and Phil Spencer, but It's Not Clear Why from GameRant.com.

by Rory Young – on Dec 20, 2019 in Gaming News

image.png

The Xbox Series X's announcement during The Game Awards 2019 was met with both excitement and humor. Many fans compared the Xbox Series X's rectangular cuboid shape to refrigerators or other household appliances. But for some, or at least one, it wasn't a laughing matter. Randy Pitchford, the controversial CEO of Gearbox, has taken to Twitter to share his thoughts about the Xbox Series X and Xbox boss Phil Spencer's explanation for the console's size. It's not a pretty situation.Spencer's original comments, as posted on Twitter as well, call attention to the slowdown of "Moore's Law." Moore's Law being, to put it simply, the speed of computers will increase and the size of computer hardware will decrease every couple of years. This law hasn't held up as well in recent years due to the limitations of our materials and technologies. Spencer notes that, due to Microsoft's performance goals for the Xbox Series X, the console's design required certain new innovations. That's why the Xbox Series X has such a unique shape. Pitchford takes issue with, well, everything that Spencer says. First, he seems to disagree with the idea that Moore's Law is slowing down. "How Many transistors in the Series X? What if Moore's Law is like the 4-minute mile?" which is perhaps a reference to the race to be the first human to break the four-minute mile. "Your ambitious message for the Xbox  One X was inspiring, but for the Series X, well, this feels more like an excuse."

Analyst Reveals How Much Xbox Series X Costs to Make from GameRant.com.

by Mason Sansonia – on Dec 20, 2019 in Gaming News

The Xbox Series X, more accurately referred to only as the "Xbox", is still shrouded in a fair deal of mystery. While everything about its specs is still under scrutiny, there is another aspect that needs to be addressed: the price. While the Xbox Series X has not yet been released to the public, details and speculations are still coming in hard and fast for the future Microsoft console. The question of load times has been raised, among others, but only now is a figure emerging as to how much that technology may actually set buyers back, and it is quite a figure. In a series of tweets, analyst Daniel Ahmad explained that, after examining the Bill of Materials for the console, a single Series X console must be somewhere in the ballpark of $500 to manufacture. The CPU/GPU and memory alone would make up around half of that price, and that's not even counting the cost of the assembly itself. While the design might allow the Xbox Series X to run as quiet as a mouse, it is clear that the phrase "spared no expense" was applied quite liberally and literally in the console's construction.

Here’s how much Microsoft’s Xbox Series X could cost you from TheOuterHaven.net

By Keith Mitchell December 15, 2019 Features, Gaming News, Xbox.

We’re putting on our Xbox Series X price guessing hat.

Now that Microsoft has revealed the name of its first next-generation consoles, the Xbox Series X, it’s speculation time. Of course, the question I’m hearing the most is how many is this going to cost me. Which, is a damned good question and one I’ve been asking. So I figured it’s time to get out the old thinking cap and start thinking. Before we go into my speculation, let’s take a look at several of the most recent expensive gaming consoles that launched with ridiculous price tags. Sony’s PlayStation 3 launched to the sum of $599.99, and that the time was considered a risky move by Sony. Risky was an understatement, as Microsoft’s Xbox 360 had dominated the console for the better portion of that gaming generation. It was only thanks to Xbox’s silly management decisions that the Xbox 360 started losing steam and the PlayStation 3 edged out the console. We’re still seeing the effects of that with the PlayStation 4. Microsoft’s Xbox One was priced at $499.99 and was $100 more than its competition. It was one of the first kinks in the consoles’ strategy and Microsoft learned a hard lesson. A cheaper version was eventually released. SNK’s NEO-GEO debuted at $650 when it attempted to bring home the arcade expensive. To SNK’s credit, the NEO-GEO was an amazing gaming console and enabled gamers to bring the arcade expensive home. It was just too pricy and niche at the time to justify it. For those who could afford it, however, loved it. Panasonic’s 3DO’s will go down in history as the most expensive gaming console to date at $699.99. Needless to say, it didn’t catch on. I managed to pick one up a few years later after someone traded it into EB Games (Now Gamestop), at a discount. Phillips CDI, which wasn’t a gaming console despite what the company said, also launched at $699.99. Not only was it expensive, and ugly, it had zero games to entice anyone into purchasing it. Plus it had those horrible Legends of Zelda games which made it worse.

Xbox Series X Reveal Trailer Accused of Stealing Visual Effects from GameRant.com.

by Peter Grimm – on Dec 21, 2019 in Gaming News

image.png

Xbox Accused of Ripping Off Visual Effects For Series X Reveal Trailer. Microsoft has been accused of "ripping off" the style and visual effects of various independent artists for its Xbox Series X debut trailer. ... Artists on social media have accused the new console's reveal trailer of copying their work. It’s never a good look for someone to be accused of plagiarism, but that's exactly what Microsoft is being accused of in the wake of its reveal of the Xbox Series X earlier this month. Set to kick off the next generation of Xbox in a year’s time, the Xbox Series X was announced at The Game Awards with a cinematic trailer featuring plenty of detailed landscapes and Xbox franchise cameos tied together by evocative old-fashioned narration. Across social media, people have begun to point out how similar it is to other videos out there. Microsoft first revealed the new console, previously known as Project Scarlett, at E3 2019, where it announced the next-gen system would release in Holiday 2020. Microsoft teased information about the console, including some spec details and the news that Halo Infinite would be a launch title, but fans didn't get a full reveal until The Game Awards in early December. Those hoping for an interesting, sleek design may have been disappointed by the end result, because it turns out that the next Xbox game console is just a box. The simple design brought immediate comparisons to basic PC towers, but Microsoft said in the Xbox Series X specs reveal that the design allowed the company to "to deliver four times the processing power of Xbox One X in the most quiet and efficient way."

The Xbox Series X Has Had a Much Better Start than the Xbox One from GameRant.com.

by Micah Shapiro – on Dec 25, 2019 in GR Originals

image.png

Suffice to say, the Xbox One did not make the best first impression when it was announced in May 2013, as it focused on its niche hardware features, such as the hardly-used motion sensor and much forgotten Kinect. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 4's original announcement stood out strongly as it focused on exclusives and games over hardware. Now, that's history, and the two companies are looking toward the future with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. With the recent announcement of the Xbox Series X, it appears that Microsoft has learned from the past mistakes of 2013, and is setting a strong trajectory course for the launch of its new console, emphasizing and prioritizing the importance of exclusive software and gaming content over supplemental hardware features. There's little doubt gamers want solid hardware and extra features, but great games come first. And if a company can not deliver on the promises of exclusive software content, the hardware platform and its supplemental features can become redundant. Make no mistake, as extra features are a welcome joy of any modern console, and gamers certainly utilize extra features such as streaming Netflix within their console. However, such software and hardware features are all icing on the cake, and Microsoft focused on the icing, while PlayStation 4's original announcement focused on the cake.
